Feng-Shui

With each season comes the arrival of different colors in the garden, a veritable fanfare of nuances. Color is one of the main remedies in Feng-Shui, followed by form and material. In other words, when we feel that an area lacks pep, we use color to enhance the vital energy of that zone.

Here you are, like a painter in front of a composition, with your brush pointed at your garden. You'll work with a palette of nuanced colors, from the brightest to the most subdued, but you'll also combine materials that marry the shapes of flowers with those of different foliage. And you'll add materials to match these choices.

My "Feng-Shui Colors" tips:

The Feng-Shui color wheel is an invaluable tool. It reveals and stages the harmonies, contrasts and nuances to be painted...

Some colors absorb light, others reflect it. It all depends on what you want to create, where you want to paint it and for what purpose. You won't choose the same shades for the entrance to your house, your roof terrace, your pond, your secret garden or your balcony...

Create a cameo of colors and a rainbow of feng-shui hues:

The basis of your garden : greenGreen is the color of health, with different shades depending on the area. Green foliage evokes freshness and a return to nature. It's a luxurious setting for all other colors.

The South, to boost your vital energy and reputation:

FIRE colors:

Red, of course, an exciting, warm, lively and invigorating color. Scarlet or deep red, enhanced by medium greens or darker shades.

Roses: from soft pink to Tyrian pink, candy pink to fuchsia pink, through to violet pink and purple. The shades are rich in themselves to bring you the joy of color and its surprise in the garden. Like an old rose emerging from the undergrowth!

Foliage: add greys, bronzes and dark reds.

Southwest, Northeast and Centerto harmonize your relationships at home and abroad and to develop your knowledge, to live in balance:

EARTH colors:

From lemon yellows to cheerful golden yellows, these colors lead the eye and create perspective effects. Oranges are more voluptuous and sensual. These hues are highlighted by pale pinks to vivid pinks, purples and sparkling violets alongside yellow, elegantly blended with orange.

On the foliage side, lime green and orange or indigo are a perfect match. But also coppers, blacks, creams and bronzes. As for apple greens, silvers and golds, they're a perfect match for yellows.

Browns and chocolate-browns to wrap everything in softness.

West and Northwestone to invite you to be more creative, the other to take you on a journey.

METAL colors:

White is a symbol of purity, not a color since it contains them all, reassuring grays, elegant silvers and femininity.

For foliage, opt for plain greens, silvery shades or variegated whites.

The Northto boost your career, your life path or your 2nd life after work.

WATER colors:

Blue, like a soft sky, can turn into a storm depending on its nuances. From pale blue to midnight blue, lavender blue... to turquoise, you have a beautiful palette.

The stricter black will modernize your garden and liven up greens, grays, silvers and, why not, oranges! It's all a question of dosage.

Foliage: choose greys, silvers and golds.

East or Southeastfor good family balance, excellent health and the abundance you need.

WOOD colors:

We're back to greens again: yellow, pale, medium, Venetian, dark, bottle... there's no shortage of green cameos.

They set off all the other colors in the garden, so give them a try before you decide.

My homemade recipe:

For the record, how do I compose?

I visualize the area to be landscaped (you can also take a photo with you), then I go and rummage through the nurseries and horticulturalists...just as you would look for your pencils at the bottom of your pencil case. Composing my mixes or mixtures on the spot...I can sometimes take up 10m2 but each time I'm left to my own devices, much to my delight! And I take it all away!

Find your mode of creativity, only you can do it for You!

Feng-Shui colors and the seasons

If in winter and spring you're craving fresh shades like blues, pinks, yellows and whites ;

If in summer, we prefer generous and dazzling colors: like reds, yellows, bright pinks and oranges ;

If in autumn, we're looking for warm hues: like dark reds, English pinks, purples, golden yellows and coppery yellows;

Feng-Shui will satisfy every one of these desires, because it gives rhythm to the seasons with its colors. In the East, you'll find the colors of spring, in the South the shades of summer, in the West the hues of autumn and in the North the cameos of winter...and you'll enjoy them all year round!

Lack or excess of color

In the case of a lack of color, reread the article above and make your choice. In the case of an excess of color in a sector, choose shades from the previous element. For example, too many fiery colors (red, pink...) calm things down with creams, yellows or oranges.

Here's our reminder, which works both ways:

Feu < Terre < Métal < Eau < Bois pour augmenter ou combler.
(Prenez les couleurs précédentes).

Fire > Earth > Metal > Water > Wood to diminish or calm.
(Take the following colors)

Harmony lesson

Use plants with visually identifiable volumes and shapes (cushions, clouds, waterfalls, trays, cones, etc.), well-structured silhouettes and, of course, lively textures (fluffy, smooth, streaked foliage, etc.).

And now, to your brushes, dear artist-gardeners! Send us your photos, and we'll be delighted to read them like a letter in India ink.
